Why can you not use a campy crankset with dura ace everything else (other than bb). What is the real difference between a Shimano Crankset and a campy one. Or is there any. Because I want that record carbon crankset but dont want full record
You can use that combination, but wait...Cima Coppi

Until Campy gets their production flaws worked out with the carbon cranks. Also, you can get the FSA cranks, which look really sweet, and are proven performers.

The spacing is different. So is the bottom bracket spindle. You will not achieve a good chainline unless you play around with spindle length.

No brainer - Campy Record chainset & BB OK - or any 103mm taper axle BB as a matter of fact
not quite correct...C-40

The size of campy's tapered spindle is slightly smaller than shimano or other BB's built to japanese standards. Campy also has a 102mm spindle length.

A campy crank installed on a shimano BB won't go on the taper as far as intended.

can a shimano crank + BB be used with an otherwise all-campy 10-speed setup?
yes...C-40

Shimano moved the little ring closer to the big ring when 9 speed was introduced. I've read several reports that it works ok.
