CT1

I believe you own a 281 and built up a 381 recently. Can you compare the two, and should I wait to get the 381 or pick up 281 cheap now?

Thanks for you opinon

I don't have the 381i finished yet. :( I didn't realize that LOOK removed the front der hanger so I had to order a clamp-on der.

Anyway, I suppose it depends a LOT on how much you weigh and also what type of rider you are. If you are a big guy or a monster sprinter I'd recommend the 381i. The 381i should be somewhat stiffer than the 281 becasue of the redesign of the front triangle and fork. That being said, I think my 281 is PERFECTLY stiff enough for my 150# weight. My brother also thought his 56cm 281 was comparably stiff as his C40. He weighs in at around 190#.

The 381i is a VERY sweet frame.... certainly the most technologically advanced frame I've ever seen. It remains to be seen how it rides...... ??? My guess is that it should be pretty decent. :)

The bottom line is you really can't go too far wrong with a 281 unless you're a monster big guy. If you do go with the 281 try to fit it a little on the big side. The 1" LOOK forks are a bit noodly. That's another reason why the 381i should be a little "better".

good luck.

John..

curious if you have the 381i built yet and have tested it? If so, what Seat post did you settle on for I am in the market for a 381i...also, where did you get it and what did you pay? Looking for a deal of course!
