Brown Handlebar Tape - Anyone?descente

Does anyone know of a brand that makes brown handlebar tape?

I know that Bennoto has a brown cotton tape, but I would prefer the vinyl fake leather kind. I am putting together an old school lookin' bike and brown tape would be the perfect finishing touch to match the gum hoods.

Any help would be appreciated...

and if wound properly lasts forever. (very hard to take it off though)

rivendell has brown cloth tape as well. if your bars are wider than 42 cm you may need 3 rolls to cover the bars well.

although with a bit of experimentation on white or yellow cloth tape with a generous coat of shellac may work even better and give a more classic feel/look especially if finished with twine/hemp and velox plugs (see rivendell)

brown vinyl - hmm, will be hard to find.

Once upon a time I had a brown Schwinn Continental that had the plastic/vinyl brown tape you speak of. Don't have a source but try one of the Classic/Museum bike sites for leads.

Rivendell has brown cloth tape -- -- which might be the closest thing to what you're looking for. It's definitely old school.

There are good selections of handlebar tapes at and They mostly carry cork and synthetic types, but there are some brown or tan cork tapes, which look nice and function a lot better than the old vinyl or cloth wraps anyway.

Branford list some Cinelli Cork tape in "Natural Tan" and "Rust". They may work for you (and feels a lot better than plastic).
