Anybody know aything about Masi framesRutterMan

Performance has a Masi steel frame with Columbus tubing Mavic Open Pro's and 105 components for $899. This looks like a pretty good deal to me for a commuter??? However, I've never heard much about Masi but I sort of remember what I did hear was not that good. Can anyone shed some light? Thanks.

Masi was and is a great maker of Italian, first under Faliero (now deceased) and now Alberto. I was at the Masi workshop in Milan last year.

The rights to the Masi name in the US were sold by Faliero in the early 1970's. It's been passed around a few time since and you can use a search engine to find out all the details. I don't know much about the Performance Masi.

I just did some research on past posts and apparently the Masi frames in the US have no connection to the Masi family still making frames in Italy. Apparently the Masi name has been sold several times in the US and who knows who owns it now, I'll probably pass on the $900 bike with S/105's and go for the Saratoga frame I found for $440 and get a gruppo off zonabici or something.
