can anyone reccomend a good cheap hr monitor?

There was some discussion about inexpensive HRM on this board a few days ago. You might want to check it out.

That said, I have owned a Club for two years and have had no problems with it whatsoever. Others, however, tell tales of CardioSport woe, everything short of the unit exploding in mid-ridel

I don't know about that. I just know I've got one, it works great, and I"m not tempted to buy a more expensive one anytime soon.

I've got the Sports Instruments SI80HR & it's been working fine, since we got it running. Intially the HR belt was DOA & computer had a problem. I paid around $76 & this is comes with a cyclecomputer & is wireless, which I like.

Just so you know, basic is basic & they don't have a wide range of functions, that might be good for serious training. Also, most HRM don't work near power lines with transfomers.

Used one two years, seems accurate, no problems at all except the transmitter belt eats $4 batteries (need to be replaced every few months). Haven't felt any need to 'upgrade' either.
