|GT and Schwill filed for Chapter 11 protection. This means it's a reorg - not complete liquidation. They should still be around.
Now - as to whether they will honor warranties - I would assume so. Sine they still mean to be in business - they would be complete idiots not to honor them.
As I understand - GT warranties are only for a year anyways? Could be wrong, but i don't think it's a lifetime warranty like Trek or Specialized.
Anyways - as I said - this is just how I figure it - I could be totally wrong.

|While Schwinn /GT filed a reorgization type of bankruptcy, the bankruptcy estate sold the bicycle business to Pacific. A buyer in that type of transaction does not necessarily have to assume the warranty liabilities. Pacific probably did not assume Schwinn / GT's warranty liabilities but might honor warranties to protect the brand.
A warranty claim against the bankruptcy estate is likely worthless.
Someone made a comment that Pacific said it would honor Schwinn / GT warranties for a year. Not sure if that is true on whether that is a year from purchase or what.
I think Schwinn did have a lifetime frame warranty.

|Ask this question to whoever sold you the frame. I just bought a zr 1.0 from Supergo and they say they will warranty the frame for five years. No paperwork came with the frame, so I called them up and requested the warranty to be sent in writing. We'll see. BTW, the frame (team Lotto) is beautiful and I cain't wait to build it up.|

|I've heard the company will warranty it for a year. I have a zr 2.0 and love it. for the price I paid for it, I figure I got the frame for free and them some, who cares if it snaps. What are the odds anyways, slim to none, and slim just left town. where else can you get a full ultegra bike for 1100 bucks?

|Don't worry about it--just ride. Unless you seriously abuse the bike, the frame will outlast you--and the warranty is meaningless on the rest of the components after a year anyway.|
