Saratoga Frames made by Serotta?RutterMan

I was in my lbs this weekend and they had a pretty nice Saratoga steel frame for a good price. I have never heard of them and was told by one of the employees that they are made by Serotta apprentice frame builders.....I can't find any info on the web. Has anybody heard of them before??\

I've not heard of them, but I just discovered recently that Serotta is in Saratoga, so it could possibly be true. Never knew that about them and I grew up near there. Odd, because the area isn't what I would call rich in cycling enthusiasts. Might have to make a pilgrimage next time I visit the folks. :)

I heard pretty much the same story from a LBS in San Francisco. Actually I heard that Saratoga frames were manufactured during "off-peak" manufacturing times as a way of keeping employees busy without diluting the demand for Serottas. From the ones I've seen, it seems like a very decent frame.

I think they have the Serotta "S" on the brake mount and perhaps on the bottom bracket.

I bought my ex-girlfriend a ti Saratoga. Tube and weld quality were A1. The frame was staight, threads were chased and B.B. / H.S. were faced. Rides well, looks great. I was told that the Saratoga was built with imported ti as opposed to American ti on the Serotta's and it had conventional shaped tubes rather than the more exspensive Colorado Concept pipes.
Any way you can get her back?grzy

The bike that is? ;-)

Sorry, but it was just too good an opening. I apologize.
