Just wondering about the Eddy Mercky Majestic(2000 model). I know the bike is built by Litespeed. Which model Litespeed is the Majestic close to as far as tubing type?
Any other comments on this frame please make them. I thinking of buying one.

I was just on the internet last night comparing the Litespeed Classic with the Merckx Majestic. They both use 3AL/2.2v seamless titanium. The difference lies in the geometry as Litespeed builds the Majestic to Merckx geometry. Mercxk has has a laid back ST with a long top tube know as "century geometry". I don't know how this effects the ride of the two bikes.

You would have to compare the specs of the Litespeed model (they all differ) with a Majestic.

I've been eying a Majestic and a Classic but I don't know if I could handle the Merckx geometry.

Click on http://www.cbike.com/merckx.htm to eye the Merckx geometry, then you have to compare to the Litespeed model in question.

I'd be interested to hear some data also as both of these bikes are on the back on my mind.

The geometery is different but not that much overall. Litespeed uses the same 73 degree seat tube angle for everything whereas Merckx varies it. Because of this, the Litespeed has a more laid back seat angle until the frame size gets up to 56 and above.

I rode a Merckx EX Ti for several years and liked it very much. It was moderately stiff in the 54cm size I rode although the Majestic would be somewhat softer I expect. Overall, the two models you guys are looking at are very similar. A coin flip not counting price.

As a side note, you guys might want to check the used market. Ti frames are super durable. My EX in near new condition but I could only get $900 for it with a Time Equipe fork. Check out the classifieds and rec.bicycles.marketplace Great deals to be had on Ti frames.

Thanks for that information...I've been eyeing the Merckx Majestic at GVH Bikes Inc, frameset (including fork) is $1295, but I'll keep an eye on the used ti bikes also...
