Argh! I was cleaning my bike today.. Colnago Dream plus - frames only a few months old! and saw a paint chip below and back of the the front derailleur braze on. Looking closer, I see that it's a chip into the paint AND a gouge into the aluminum underneath - maybe 1 mil across, half a mil deep. Very wierd. Probably a rock picked up by my back tire and thrown onto frame, or nearby rider throwing a rock at me.

Anyone else had the frame underneath chip like this? It's aggravating. I'll have to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't turn into a hairline crack or something.

Take a closer look at where your derailleur is positioned when in the small chainring, it may be contacting the seat tube, I have a similar ding on my bike in the same general location and that is the cause.

Hey LG - you were right. Didn't occur to me to check to make sure the der wasn't hitting the tube. Didn't think a f. der could retract back that far. Hope I didn't f-up the downtube.

Thanks
