Is May 4 the date for the Chat century? Gotta know for sure because I'm going to be there! (12 hr drive not withstanding).
May 4 is correct if you're talking about the 3 State 3 Mtn.Mike P

The Chattanooga Bike Club posted the date last week. (www.chattbike.com) The date is on the home page. The map/cue is posted under Maps and Cues; if you are not familiar with the course.

I have not decided if I am going to do the full 100 or the Metric. I have ridden the metric the last few years and have set a goal of trying to break 3 hours. On the other hand, I feel I am in good enough shape to make the 100 in fairly decent time if I was to do it.

sheesh! 3 hours!Js Haiku Shop

I rode that full century in 9 hours (total time). then again, i piddled at ALL the sags and walked up burkhalter gap.

things will be a little different this year (my pants are on fire!). i'm no climber, but i'm not piddling, and my form is way better than last year (my first "serious" year), and i'm working on training toward that weekend (peaking, tapering, blah, blah, blah).

do the century. why not? it's only three (five) mountains. that descent off lookout mountain is worth riding 300 miles! plus, you can help push me up the hills.

may 4. consider may 5 for a recovery ride. it's only a 100 mile drive south of chattanooga.

see you there! :o)

Don't think I can do that! ("Recovery ride") That would be a 13 hr drive back and I'm already taking off 3 days from work. Plus, I'm going to stay at my friend's mother in law's house in Chattanooga, so I've got to consider that. See you there! (Maybe we can hoist a few PBR's!)

uh, i only do that when nobody's looking. there was a brewery a few blocks from the starting/finishing line at last year's ride. nice atmosphere (read "they had beer"). maybe we could all (mb1? miss m? 12x23?) get together and get sloppy-drunk, vomit, break stuff and get arrested. or, just sloppy-drunk.

just as long as I don't have to drink 3 cans of Ensure afterward.

strawberry ensure?

pink & tan (thick and creamy!), or black & pink, if you're mixing a porter.

YUCK!

hey 12x23, i'm thinking about two others this year: the 6-gap century in dahlonega, and a new double century (was a 300k) in clarksville, tn. i'm thinking b'ham's double century will be 9/7 or 9/14, so that makes for a fun choice. may have to go with the b'ham double 'stead of the clarksville double, since i'll have a free place to stay and it's probably more challenging and scenic in b'ham.

clarksville 200 mi: 8/31
dahlonega 6 gap: 9/29

I'll be going to Dahlonega, this after swearing I wouldn't be back after sharing the roads with a 'swarm' of superbikes all day. I will ride B'ham also.
hey, stop following me! see you there. :o) nmJs Haiku Shop

the burkhalter gap climb at 80 miles, in the heat of the day. i can't decide to ride as hard as i can between the climbs, so'z i can hit burkhalter earlier into the day, or take my sweet time so'z i'll have something left for burkhalter, and then the day later.

i'm a wuss!

I'm being told by my friend that he takes it easy and that's how he finished. He also fitted a triple on his bike. I'm going to go with my 39-27. Sloppy drunk?! Haven't been like that in a while.....

I mean if your going to break stuff and vomit and all? Lots of beer near the start and I can walk home. I live just around the corner from the little tunnel you ride through near the start.

I haven't met any folks from the RBR world yet. It would be nice to know who some of the names belong to.
