Has anyone purchased a pair yet? wondering how they fit? What kind of comfort level. I know shoes are a personal thing , but I want your opinion. Looking at Pearl Izumi and Carnac, not sure which one to go with.

They are ugly. That being said, I tried 'em on (I have notoriously wide feet) and found them competitive with some of the other roomier options like Carnac and Northwave.

Aesthetically speaking, isn't that a phrase from the Department of Redundancy Department?

It seems that more and more designers are trying to make the cycling equivalent of rental bowling shoes.

Not that it matters. My adidas Adistar TTs are an ugly mix of upchuck yellow and gray and I couldn't care less because they fit my narrow foot perfectly.

And then there are the Northwave American flag shoes, which I hear some southern senators are trying to pass a Constitutional amendment against. Either that, or they're trying to market a "stars and bars" model. I'm not sure which.

don't laugh mike! i probably wouldn't get honked at or harassed as much if i had the stars and bars on my road shoes! a sign seen at the mlk celebration here in columbia,sc, carried by a scruffy old redneck: " I love you, anyway!" dontcha just love south carolina? #49 in education, #1 in our hearts!

Even more important to try these on- they are basically plastic, and will NOT form to your foot. The are pretty light tho.

I really like these shoes. They are not plastic, but a really rugged fabric upper (kind of like cordura) with rubber reinforcements on the out sole. They are a teeny bit lighter as my 2001 shoes, Gaerne carbon pros, which were wicked light, and they fit better than the Carnacs do on my feet. They hold your midfoot and heel extremely well while letting your toes wiggle a little. I am using these for all of my races and training in 2002.
