I'm thinking of getting the blue poggio. How is the quality of the shoe? I know the old nike shoes had quality problem. Is it as good as Sidis? I wear a size 47, shimano and answer, 12(nike). Should I go for 46 or 47?

I had a pair and really liked the fact that they were big in the toebox...
the problem was the design of the top velcro strap. it sits too high on the shoe, thus it sits too high on your foot/ankle. the straps are some sort of carbon infused plastic and are very stiff. it sat too high on my foot and just bruised the hell out of the tendon that runs on the front of the ankle. it got to the point that i could not wear them. it only took me about 4 rides to figure this problem out. i think the problem is more prevelent in the larger sizes, like you wear. including myself, i know four people who got rid of the poggio shoes for the above reason.
I ended up buying some carbon soled shimano shoes on closeout from excel and do not have the problem anymore!

I would recommend that you try them on and walk around the store (or get on a trainer) awile. The rubbing at the top of the tongue drove me crazy.

the other comments. I have the Poogio's have ridden them for about 6 months and have been very happy. Plenty of toe room, wider footbed than many other shoes, and freaking crazy light (at least compared to my last pair of shoes).

I wear a 45.

Nike is crap. I had the Nike Cairns MTB shoes and I used them for road riding ONLY, and one day as I was stepping off to clip in, the toebox collapsed. Nike warranty dept basically said 'it sucks to be you'. I try not to buy any Nike products whenever possible.
