$597??!?!? you can get a good set of wheels for that. you can get a set of DA cranks + BB + pretty fair quality wheels for that.

Ever wonder why Zipp stopped selling them when Campy started? The reason is Campy's contract with Zipp included that. I know some people who work for Zipp and confirmed this.

aren't the Zipps different than the "new campy"??? Are the Zipps still available??

Campy cranks are the next generation Zipps, and they are no longer available under the Zipp name.

It looks like the "old" Zipp cranks were really designed for Shimano drivetrains. correct?

Just my guess but I suspect the "new" C10 carbon cranks will drop in price to around the low $500 range in a short while.
