How long between "long rides"?(2 posts)

How long between "long rides"?Sharky

I have been doing 3.5 to 5 hour rides every weekend for the last 5 months, they are getting boring. I have been thinking about going 9 or 10 days between long rides. Is this frequent enough to maintain endurance? I ride medium to hard every other day and I want to add another interval session in between the long ride. Thanks
I think your total mileage is as important as the long stuff.MB1

I wouldn't worry too much about your long rides being the biggest indicator of your endurance. Keep your weekly and monthly mileage up and do a long ride every 2 weeks.

Don't be afraid to fool around with your training, how else are you going to find out what works for you.

When I raced we liked to do a monthly century-everything else was speed. Don't forget to slow down on your long ride too or you could really blow up.
