Hey, i recently got a Minoura Magnet Trainer. I've been using it a lil as when it rains outside. I was wondering how mch life can you expect out of one of these magnet trainers. Does it wear down to the point that its not good anymore? When the races start in February probaly the only time that i will use it is to warm up before each race. How long have you gotten out of your mag trainer so far?

Used as you describe, the thing should last indefinitely. It doesn't 'wear down,' but at some point way down the road you may burn out a bearing. I wouldn't sweat it. I've gotten several years out of mine, used much more than you indicate you use yours, and it's still fine.

To give you an idea exactly HOW old that is, the pro rider endorsing my trainer was Maurizo Fondriest when he was World Champ!!

Varying amounts of use. Some years 4 or 5 days a week for the Connecticut winter months. Other years we ran in the winter and the trainer sat. It is no longer useable at the highest resistance level and takes concentration on spinning smoothly to overcome the jerky feeling on the 2nd highest level.

I think the manufacturer should give you a new one if you wear one out. That's a lot of torture to get there, and it should be rewarded.
