|does jumping over a silly rope help improve cycling. rumor has it that 10 mins of jumping is the same as running for 30 min.
what do you all think?

|... yeah, I could see where 10 minutes of Bunny Hopping over a silly rope could improve cycling but it seems like it would be more like the same as running for an hour...
Sorry, I couldn't resist... I suspect that when using proper technique and diligence, jumping rope can provide an excellent cardiovascular workout, but am unaware of any data that directly relates it to cycling...

|These statements about one exercise for 10 minutes is like X minutes of something else are always bogus. The comparisons are always done on an apples and oranges basis, usually by someone who doesn't have a clue. Let's see . . cycling at 8 miles an hour compared to running at a 6 minute pace compared to jumping rope (using which jump style, at what cadence, and what body weight???) Going hard running, cycling, swimming, rowing, XC skiing, etc. is going hard. If you're going at the same heart rate in any endurance activity, then the exercise has essentially the same fitness benefit. No free lunches available.|| |
