wheelset upgrade(4 posts)

I'm currently looking into getting a Daytona/Centaur Ergo Groupset along with Mavic Open Pro Wheelset. What are the benfits of upgrading with alloy nipples and double butted 14/15 gauge spokes? My average ride is about 50 miles per week. No racing at all. It is worth to pay another $60 for these upgrade?

Thanks

get the double butted spokes--they make for a lighter wheel, and many people (myself included) think they make for a more durable, trouble-free wheel (a butted spoke is more likely to compress than twist on impact). But I think the alloy nips are potentially more hassle than they're worth, especially if you think you'll have the wheels for a long time and/or ride in the rain much.

Thanks for the input. I'll get the double butted gauge spokes.
