|Does anybody have any experience buying from gvhbikes.com, either good or bad? The prices on their frames and build kits are very good and I'm tempted to try them out.|

|I got a complete bike last summer. I found him helpful, knowledgeable, and when the seatpost didn't fit me because it had no set-back, he replaced it with one of similar quality without any debate or difficulty. If you know what you want and he has it, it's as good a place as I know to buy a bike.|

|I bought my bike from Gary 2 years ago. Was shipped on time and in 10 minutes was ready to ride. Could not be more pleased, will deal with GVH on my next bike purchase.|

|My wife (hi, cutie pie!) recently bought a DeBernardi sport tourer from them. Gary's a good guy to deal with; all of our queries were answered promptly, the bike came on time and as advertised, and was set up really well. None of the adjustments we needed to make went beyond the minor tweaking variety. I highly recommend him.
Hope this helps,

|I have bought three complete bikes and had two others built up by Gary. Great selection, prices, quality, and value.
He is the most sincere and professional person I have met in the bike business, and that is saying a lot because most bike folks are great.

|I've bought several bikes/frames mail-order. Never went through GVH, but I'm sure it will arrive in great shape with only very minor assembly required. I realize that its more PC to buy from a LBS, but when bikes cost so much less from mail order places, I can't justify spending 33% more at a LBS. I'll buy stuff from them, but not complete bikes. And their line about free tune-ups doesn't justify the extra expense. Anything that takes more than 5 minutes to do will, or that requires any part will cost you. I think LBS benefit more from these programs than their customers do. |
So, don't fear mail-order. Go for it. I bet you'll be happy you did.

|I posted a similar query a little over a year ago when I was contemplating a purchase from Gary. Like these posts, they were all positive. I went ahead and had Gary build my bike and was very pleased with the quality and care taken in the build. His prices are extremely competitive if not better than anything out there, especially given the quality of his work. I wouldn't hesitate purchasing from GVH in the future.

|bought a complete built-up bike from gary in march, now i'm on my second from him: a merckx. gary's prices are great, his wheels are all handbuilt, and he stands behind his product/work.
had a small problem with the bb on the bike in march, i e-mailed him about it and sent him a receipt from the lbs for repair (tightening, $25), and got a check from him for the full amount and an apologetic e-mail right away.
i've also had about three thousand questions on this most recent purchase. he's good about returning calls if you leave a message, i prefer e-mail. he checks it several times per day and responds promptly, and is quite knowledgeable.
highly recommended, if you know what you're looking for, and if he has it.

|I have purchased two bikes from Gary over the last 18 months. As the others have stated, he is very professional and is true to his word. Overall, I have been very satisfied. However, I wouldn't buy another bike from him with handbuilt wheels. The one bike I did have handbuilts on had the rear wheel not laced properly which caused the RD to contact the spokes in the lowest gear (not good). I'm sure that Gary would have made the wheel right (he has another person build the wheels by the way) if I had sent it back to him but I just re-laced the wheel correctly as it was only a couple of spokes. I ordered K's with my second bike. I may buy my third bike from him (hopefully not for a while ;-) if I don't go for a Seven or Calfee through my LBS/club. So, overall I have been very satisfied and the value is among the best IMO.

|Bought a frame from Gary at gvhbikes last month. Everything arrived as promised, no hassles. Would recommend and would certainly deal with gvhbikes again in the future.|
|He also has a layaway plan. Not many out there do that! -NM||Tig|
