received a pair for the holidays, in my size--they run $40 on sale, about what i pay for voler shorts when they're on special. thought i'd give a comparison. i'm returning the "sunday" shorts for nashbar credit.

where voler XLs fit above my waist and nearly to the knee, and are comfortably snug, the nashbar sunday shorts are several inches shorter both ways. they feel like those low-waist jeans look in the commercials (showing off girls' belly buttons). the shortness in the leg length causes logistical problems (argh! tanline! shave higher!), and they're snug everywhere except in the butt (most important place to be snug!).

hope this saves at least one person the time and effort and shipping charges...

If you're into mail-order shorts or bibs, Voler and Performance are probably the best. Both are longer and, in my case, fit a taller (6-5) person better.

Giordana, Pearl Izumi, Castelli are the best for shorts.

Performance, Nashbar, etc are NO GOOD and not worth the couple bucks you save. They dont last and arent comfortable.
Dont waste your money.

Sorry, you can't convince me that one company's lycra is any better than anyone else's. The stitching is not really an issue either because I've seen stuff from PI and Giordana with missed and loose stitches. I don't know about Nashbar, but Performance bibs and shorts are the best and most comfortable I've tried. Their Elite pad is great. They've lasted two and a half years of hard mountain biking and road riding. That may not be much to some, but it's enough for me. I can't find any way to justify the extra $$ for those brands.
