|I'll be in southern california next weekend and was looking for an interesting group ride. I heard that the Swami's have a challenging group ride just north of San Diego.
Has anyone participated in one of their Saturday rides? If so, could you give me a quick synopsis of the character of the ride?
Also, if you know of any other group rides, please let me know. I'll be near Redlands at some point as well.

|My old roommate used to ride with them. He was a racer, Cat II and III. During the season I suspect it was rather competitive. This time of the year I'm not so sure.
Probably not a ton of help for you other than the group is comprised of racers.

|I know the route very well. It’s about 42 miles long and hilly. There is another ride on Saturdays at 8:30am put by the San Diego Bicycle Club. Go to www.sdbc.org for directions. Both rides are worth doing but I would recommend the SDBC ride. Both rides have an aggressive, competitive character. The Swamis will be harder because of all the hills.|

|A group called the Crown City Cyclist usually does a Swami's ride on Sundays. They meet at Perry's Cafe near the Old Town Trolley Station around 8:30ish and head north to Swami's and back. It's about a 45 mile social ride; although there are some very aggressive riders. Check them out at:
