Rest heart rate.. am I too lazy?cyclopathic

Just came from a 1 3/4hr ride ('bout 4hr ago) checked my HR and it is down to 54 now.
Does that look like after workout HR? Avg for ride was 151.
How did you check it?Mel Erickson

With a heart rate monitor? Carotid pulse? I'd wear the HRM to bed and take an average reading for the entire night to get a valid resting heart rate. ;)

Are you trying to rub it in. A low resting heart rate is a good thing.

no. I am surprized to see that my HR dropped down so quickly after the ride. In the past that would be an indication that I didn't work hard enough. Not according to HRM readings, I spent 46% of the time at sub- and threshold. 151 avg reflects 2 5min stops /my riding buddy had a mechanical/ and would be just below my tempo zone.

I was riding without HRM for some time now /my old broke and I was reluctant to get new one/, and I haven't checked my LTHR for ~1.5+ years. I suspect I might be using wrong ranges for training. Or my cardio fitness is so good? Hmm
