I know that the Hed3's are the Specialized trispoke. I was wondering is there any difference between the two ? Did Hed make any improvements to the wheel ie... materials or in making the wheels lighter? Is it the exact same wheel just different name?

As far as I know, they are functionally the same wheel. Same construction, very similar in weight. There is a difference of about 1mm in width of the rim, with the HED3 being the narrower of the two. Other than that, HED basically bought off the design from Specialized wholesale. There was a website, whose address I can't quite remember now, that traced the shape of the spoke and rim and compared the two. Their conclusion is what I just wrote. Good luck.
