Smallest Budget needed for quality aluminum road bikep1rana

Well, im a newbie, and this is my second newbie question. I like the pinarello surprise (i have yet to go to a LBS so i havent actually tested it) but my dad doesnt seem to believe me that that is budget road bike so he wont help me in getting one. So if you want an aluminum road bike that you can grow into and has quality what should you expect to pay at the least.

It's all relative. You can score C'dale CAAD4 frame & fork for around $600 or less. You'll do much better if you buy a complete bike and find a sale. I set a buddy up on a CAAD4 - all Ultegra - for about $1,100, but we were using a bunch of my 8 speed Ultegra and I gave him a new set of wheels for $200.

Ultimately you have to decide if it has to be "all new" in which case you'll pay for it. Buying the parts seperately is THE most expensive way to go and is right up there with buying a low-end bike and upgrading the entire thing, unless you cruise the classifieds and buy quality used components. Getting to know some bike junkies will help since they could probably come up with and entire bike worth of stuff for pennies on the dollar.

If you dad wants a reality check show him what a "budget" ti ride runs. Seems that it doesn't really matter what you do - your dad only wants you to spend a certain amount of money. The rub is you spend too little and it's no longer quality - you spend too much and it's no longer budget. Might as well ask him to tell you what the number is and work from there. It's doubtful that you'll find a better value than an aluminum bike from Sepcialized or C'dale aqnd if you do be very careful. If you go to the used side of things - the savings can be huge. Decide where you want to be and what your objective is - then decide how you're going to get there. It's an interesting excercise and one I never really get tired of revisiting.

GVH probably has the lowest price on that particular bike
(and any Pinerallo for that matter.) He probably has some "budget" type bikes that even your father would agree to...
