where to stay in FLWoof the dog

Hey all,

my buddy and I are thinking about driving down to FL and just ride lots of miles this vacation. Can you guys suggest where's the cheapest possible place to live. I mean we need only basic commodities, like shower, kitchen and other small stuff. Can't camp out in a van hehe. Any kind of real cheap hotels or youth hostils of any kind? We'd greatly appreciate any info!!!

Thanx

Woof and his ridin' dog-buddy.

I toured in Florida many years ago and liked the Gulf Coast best. It was cheaper, less crowded and more southern than suburban. There was a youth hostel in Perry which, if it's still there would be pretty cheap. The area around the big bend - Appalachicola I think - was also pretty nice. You may also want to consider Biloxi, Mississippi. It's pretty flat down there, I broke my r der cable and didn't replace it for days.

If you are coming here to ride you'll want to be near the best riding area in Florida. That's Lake county. Check out www.windemereroadies.com for the schedule and a message board where somebody can hook you up with motel info.

Bicycle Bill is right, Lake County is great. You can even ride the Withlacoochee trail, Van Fleet, all around Clermont, Mt. Dora area. It is greaT!
