Info about battery life of cyclocomputer\HRM (Cateye)...Bruno S

My cyclocomputer\HRM Cateye msc2dx stopped measuring speed and distance. I have checked the sensor and it cannot be any closer to the magnet. I am suspecting its the battery but the display looks ok, the HRM works and the light lits. I would like to now if the first symptom of low battery is that cyclocomputer functions stop working. When this has happened in the past it was because either the connections were dirty or the sensor had moved but I all ready checked all that. The strap battery is new and the HRM funtions work ok. The unit is almost 2 years old. Any suggestions before I venture into replacing the battery?

I doubt it's the battery. Usually, the display starts getting blurry when the battery weakens. I think your problem is the connection between the head unit and the platform it's on. I have the same problems..sometimes I don't get to pick up my speed. So I just move the head unit around a bit until it starts picking up my speed. Try that.

Yah same as iloveshimano said the connection has to be perfect. I have a Shimano FLightdeck computer and if i go out riding in the rain or something the water and dirt gets under there and the next day i go out to ride its not giving me speed or anything so just take off teh head unit and make sure yah get any dir or anything out of there.

Nothing works better than a pencil eraser for cleaning a contact head. Try it.
