Minoura mag trainer problem(4 posts)

I bought it used from someone barely used for 100$. Its the dark brown color frame with organge plastic covers on the mag unit and a cable with resistance shifter. The problem is that resistance adjusting doesn't work. I took it apart (the whole mag. unit) and put it together like it was. Has anyone ever taken theirs apart?

I did, and here's what I found. Took orange cover off first, disconnected the cable from the clear plastic adjuster with three screws holding it to the large plate inside. I can freely move this plastic part in the slot. My guess is that the round metal plate this clear part screws to should be glued to a magnetic disk, so that when you move this plastic thingie, it moves the magnetic disk that in turn acts upon another magnetic disk thus varying the resistance. The glue came unstuck as I understand. I know its complicated, but if anyone out there who knows what I am talking about can confirm whether the thin plate should be glued to the round magnet, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise, I am not even sure I can get the money back, plus I need a trainer to space out in front of the tv for 3 hours.

Thanx a lot

Woof, I have the same trainer, pulled the orange piece off and it doesn't appear that the clear plastic piece is actually attached to the magnet, mine seems to move freely also, but my trainer is brand new and works properly. let me know if i can help you anymore.

hmmmm. My guess is that if you pull the large metal cover off as well, the whole assembly - the clear plastic thing with three screws in it, the plate with holes for those three screws, and the round magnet stuck to the plate all come off. One may have to pull it off as the magnet sticks to the other round magnet that you can barely see. The question is whether the first magnet I am talking about is glued to the metal plate with three holes in the middle for the plastic thingie or not. But don't mess with it or you may mess something up! I appreciate your trying however. The guy's gonna give me my money back, so I am all set, apparently.

Thanx.

Woof.
