Disc Wheels(5 posts)

I am looking at getting a used disc wheel to use in some club time trials. I won't use it extensively, and don't want to shell out $1,000 for a new one.

Can anyone give me ideas on which wheels are good and what a reasonable price would be for a used one?

Thanks for the advice

I have seen numerous disk wheels on E-Bay, and they usually go for great prices. You did not say what type of drivetrain you are running (Shimano or Campy, cassette or freewheel), or if you want a tubular or clincher disc, so I cannot tell you what to expect costs to be. Keep an eye out on E-Bay for a few weeks, and see what comes through.

I use shimano, and don't really have a preference on the tubular/clincher issue.
I have no experience with them but...Akirasho

Time trialing is my favorite cycling event. This past summer, my wife and I volunteered to help marshal the Fitchburg Lonsgo Clasic stage race, and ended up helping out on the TT day. I just love the sound they make. As the bikes went by, they sounded like the pod racers on "The Phantom Mennace" Someday I too will be looking for a disc wheel.
