Considering a 2001 R2000si with Ultegra and Ksyrium wheels versus a 2000 R4000 with Dura Ace and Mavic Helium wheels. Both bikes are new and the same price. Any thoughts about the weight differential between the Ksyriums and the Heliums?

My wife is riding a r2000si with Kysyriums. It is one hell of a road bike. The Kysyriums are far more durable than the Heliums. If you weigh more than 180 the Heliums could be a problem,
how much are they? nmmetonymy3

They are both priced around $1950. The R4000 comes with Mavic electronic shifting but the shop is replacing it with straight Dura Ace so the whole bike will be Dura Ace.

Tell them you'll buy the DA bike with the Ksyriums for $200 more and you won't regret it.

I've been riding on the R2000si this year & it's amazing! The Mavics are lite & quick, with a rep for being pretty bomb-proof, a plus for the larger guys. To have DA, Ks and R4000, well that's got to be one better for sure!!!

Tough decision, ....enjoy the new ride!!
I'll second that.firstrax

I will try to get the Ksyriums and offer a couple hundred more. Sounds like good advice. Those Heliums seem dated.
No diff. in weight - according to Mavicgrzy

The Hellium and Ksyriums weigh the same according to Mavic - I'm not talking about the newer versions of the K's since I don't think it's what you're dealing with. The real difference in weight is going to be the 5 oz. between the DA and Ultegra components.

Many shops are reluctant to swap wheels, but given the way the economy has slowed down you might be able to swing it. The probelm is that it can give the bean counters fits when they try to square up the numbers, but a decent accountant can make it work. You'd have one hell of a sweet ride with the DA and Special K's. don't go for the mavic electronic shifting under any cicumstances - it's problematic at best.
