|I've never had them before in my life and only began wearing cycling shoes (a Specialized SPD model) in May. So, it's got to be the cycling shoes. |
Any suggestions on how to treat a corn? Any tips on how to avoid getting them?

|I don't have corns but I get calluses on the balls of my feet. I'm assuming you might be able to treat corns the way I treat the callouses.
After untold years of riding, I developed the calluses last year. After changing shoes, trying insoles, callus pads and other tricks, I found corn and callus removing liquids to be the best treatment.
With continued treatment - every day for a couple of months - the calluses were greatly diminished. I continue to apply the stuff two or three times a week and it keeps the calluses away.
I believe this medicine - found in the foot care section of a drugstore - works on corns as well.
