Look at Labicicletta, had some for around $100. Super serious riders spend big bucks on the best Krietlers, no idea how to gauge what level or roller suits what rider. I fully suspect the $100 ones will suit the majority of the riders on this board.
will check em out.(nm)aet

I got a set of Tacx SportTrack rollers. About $100 - although I don't know how much they are in the States (branfordbike.com sells them). I've spent some two hours total on them now and I have no complaints.

Buy the cheapest used rollers you can find. That is my advice. Some things, like trainers and rollers last forever and are no better new than used. I ride an old Nashbar set of rollers and they work great.

Will you get killed in your living room? I doubt it, but clear obstacles out of the way. If you have a narrow hallway use it. If you have a mirror, put it in front of you so you can look forward and still keep on track. It's not a bad idea to wear your helmet if you are feeling a little queasy at first, but after 10 minutes or so you will be rolling along.
