Rollers v. trainer(2 posts)

Rollers v. trainerCartman

I have a magnetic inner rim trainer that I use when the winter gets cold, the roads too sloppy, and it isn't convenient to get to the gym. I've been thinking of getting a pair of rollers, because it looks like it is less stressful to the bike, and to give a different work out. What are your thoughts?

Anyone can ride a trainer, rollers require you to sharpen your skills as a rider and smooth out any roughness you may have in your pedal stroke. What is cool about rollers is you notice fairly quickly the difference once you transition from rollers to the road. Your handling skills improve, you are smoother on the bike. You can get a good workout with rollers, however your overall strength will not vastly improve. Aerobic capacity should improve or be maintained.
