|I'm considering a Klein Quantum II. I believe it is a 96. Does anybody know where in the Klein line this model was and how good of a frame it is? Thanks.|

|I had a 98 Stage Comp R until I was hit by a car last year and I loved the frame so much I had the driver's insurance company buy me a 2000 Quantum Race. I now love this frame even more, so you can't go wrong with Klein. I've also found that their website email contact is pretty good at getting back to me. www.kleinbikes.com|

|I'm no expert, but all the Klein road bike frames are the same (excluding this year). The only difference is the fork and groupo they slap on them. What component group do you have? It will give you an idea of where it was in the line up...|

|I believe this frame is same as the current Quantum Race, at least up to the 2000 model. This frame will also have the Klein intregrated BB which will not work with the current Shimano Dura Ace\Ultregra\105 cranks.

|That frame might have a Klein integrated headset as well. Check it out. Great stuff. You can get that BB threaded and get rid of that integ. unit. I've got a QP which is just awesome.|

|Just out of curosity are these integrated bb's compatable with a Record crankset?|
|If it's a Quantum II, it probably has Shimano 600...||jba|

I got a ~1996 Quantum II with most of the original Shimano 600 8spd components excl. wheels, cogs, chain, rings... . The color is a greenish-bluish fade from front to rear, not linearly faded along individual tubes (unless it's custom painted by Klein in which case any weird-ass color scheme was possible.)
Shimano 600 was equivalent to today's Ultegra, except today's Ultegra has gone on a diet and looks shinier.
The frame is the same as a newer Quantum Race which does not have the Klein proprietary bottom bracket or headset which can be good if you decide to get different BB or fork because Klein's BB and HS only take the stuff Klein put on 'em.
Your frame should feature internal cable routing and micro-dropouts. If you got dropouts that look like a plate of aluminum, then the Klein is older than 95/96. 1996 dropouts were the tiny rearward-facing things seen on today's kleins.
It's an excellent bike. Probably 2nd down in the line-up for that year. The frame is the same as the Quantums up to 2001. It's not the same as the Quantum Pro frame, but an excellent frame. The 600 components are very good too.
