Lotsa questions(9 posts)

Lotsa questionsI'm new here

I am thinking of a new bike... Serotta, Seven, Merlin, Litespeed and Airborne are my choices. I like the idea of titanium, but what are the differences between frame materials? Is a sloping tube frame better? Can somebody give a recommendation? Also, what size should I get? and can I use it on a trainer? What is better, rollers or the other kind? I am a newbie. As far as components go, should I get Campagnolo or Shimano? Do I want Nucleons or Ksriums, or other wheels? Are these any better than the wheels built up from scratch? What about a saddle? Sometimes I go numb and on occasion rubbed raw. Do creams help? And can somebody explain the difference between clinchers and tubulars and sew up tires? I also need a recommendation for pedals too. Where is a good mail order place to get these things? Also, how should I give the news to my wife? Finally, how do I ride faster? And should I wear a pro team jersey when I ride or just a plain one?

It's been mentioned in the past. Longtime forum members have put up quite a few good posts that I wish I'd saved.

Gregg,
Please set up a FAQ section for each of your review areas and offer something to a few forum members to maintain it.

These are good questions, but I am curious about the readers of this forum whose interests I find fascinating:
How light is your bike? How can I make mine as light as possible? Is it OK to drill holes in the frame? Where's the best place to drill said holes? Does it hurt when you get hit by a car? How was your Thanksgiving Day ride? How was your Halloween ride? How was your Labor Day ride? How was your Flag Day ride? If I have a 12 pound bike, does that mean I can eat all I want? What's the best way to prepare for a century? Once I've prepared for the century, what's the best way to complete it? Exactly what does it mean to pedal in a circle? Why can't I just put my feet on the pedals and pedal? And, lastly, how do I break it to my wife that I just spent $4,000 on a new bicycle and I don't know how to pedal in a circle?
