I have been reading the posts here for quite some time and I know a lot of you are carbon fans. I have ridden an OCLV and really liked it but a few of my friends from my work (bike shop) keep telling me go with Ti. I am riding AL right now but want to upgrade.

Im just looking for as much input and different opinions as possible on this subject. Thanks for any and all help.

A lot of people are mystified into buying titanium bikes because they're titanium- not because they like the way they ride. I have both an OCLV and a Litespeed, they ride quite differently, and I would encourage you to ride both before you made a decision. It all comes down to YOUR (not your pals') personal preference, and you really do need to ride both to tell.

In my case, there are times I would rather ride the OCLV, but if I could only have one, I'd take the Vortex.

I've been riding a 5900 over the last year for comparison with a couple of Ti rides, out of curiosity as much as anything. Both the Vortex and the 5900 are fine rides in very different ways. My preference also runs to the Vortex.

I love my 5200. Great bike. But there's a Merlin ti hanging at the LBS that, if it was my size, and if I could afford it, and if the wife said OK, I'd buy in a minute. Just watching the Merlin rep jump on the chainstays and seeing them bounce back into shape made me a ti fan.

It's your ride and your likes and dislikes. I own a '97 OCLV and really like it. Saw a
Calfee Luna frame this weekend and nearly swooned from lust. I'm going to save
up and buy it. HAPPINESS IS!!!!!

Thanks for the input. I was just able to come across a Ti bike to try out. We'll see what happens.
