|... "The Avengers" was a crazy TV series from my childhood... Emma Peel was extremely sexy (in a Shagalicious sort of way)... John Steed was cool... Bond took lessons from Steed... they rode a tandem...

|on the Pretenders video Chrissie played Emma I think. Something about CH that I really like. She's got a great voice and can play as well. She's a survivor!!
"Don't Get Me Wrong" was the video I believe.

|Bond was an anti-hero in the 50's long before he defined the term in the 60's. Steed was a gentleman.
See Steed take orders from Bond in the movie "View to a Kill."

|Yossarian from Catch-22, Marlon Brando in The Wild Ones, Peter Fonda's Captain America from Easy Rider, Randal Patrick McMurphy from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, THOSE were anti-heros.
A bon-vivant that works for the British Secret Service is an ANTI-hero?

|Emma Peel wore black leather better than a Brooks saddle. She also drove a Lotus Elan. There is no finer combination in TV history than Emma Peel, black leather, and the Lotus Elan.
I did end up with a Lotus, but Mrs. Peel remained as far out of reach for me as she did for John Steed.
By the way, James Bond (Sean Connery, of course)
have gotten the girl.

|Diana Rigg came into life about the time I got interested in girls...I knew I wanted to do something with Mrs. Peel, but I wasn't exactly sure what it was.
The unresolved sexual tension between Steed and Peel (no subliminal messages with those names, are there?) was one of the great things about the series.
Loved the Elan, wish they would sell the Elise in the US...

|Hey, those are a variation of mustache handlebars, aren't they? Steed needed a pants clip, though. I seem to remember Steed and Bond were contemporaries, Steed taking lessons from Bond, rather than the other way around.|| |
