|I was just curious to see what peoples thoughts are about how height, weight and body fat effect their cycling. I'm above average size for a cyclist at 6`4`` 240 pounds at 9% body fat. I can spin with the best of them...keep on a wheel while climbing but best of all I can muscle through to the front of any peleton to get in position for a sprint finish.

|... some are blessed with cycling genetics... others just have heart.
I ride with two guys who are physically as different as night and day, yet both are extremely accomplished (neither is 5'6", 145lb or 22) cyclist... often amazing me in their "feats of strength".
Many a time, we'll be on a decent pace when one of them gets the urge for a sprint... and while I'm just hanging on... up the HILL they go... and while I'm recovering at the top... they're dropping my arse!
I believe that aside from the physical, the mental plays an important role in both competitive and non competitive cycling. How many of you put mantras on your stem during races or time trials???
Yes, many a pro may fit more into my above description... but not all... and certainly not most of us!

|I guess size does matter! All I can do well is climb, but I'm only a worthless little guy at 5'5 and 128.
I HATE my parents for making me this way.
By the way: besides as a good-old-fashioned ego stroke, what was the point of your post?

|I really didn't post this for an ego boost at all...I actually hate being the size that I am. Like you I hate my parents for making me this way. If it were up to me i would rather be around 5`10`` and 160 pounds. I just wanted to see if there were any other fatbodies like myself out there =)
Didnt wanna come across as gloating or anything like that. Gosh, now ya made me feel bad!! j/k
Happy thanksgiving everyone and be safe
Im off for a ride

|Truthfully, I DON'T hate my parents for my being small (I was actually a preemie at 3 lbs., 8 oz. at birth, but fought my way to a semi-healthy weight). I was just kidding about that.
I still don't fully get the point/focus of your post, but you say you weren't boasting, so we're cool.
Enjoy what you have to be thankful for, and I hope your ride went well.

|I didnt think ya really hated your parents =) I dont hate mine at all...its actually kinda strange cause i think the milkman made me the way i am hahaha
everyone in my family is kinda short...my dad is the tallest at 5`9``! and here I am the little freak of the family at 6`4``
you know the mailman is pretty tall...so go figure?!
I was hoping that there would be some larger cyclists that would post and we could trade stories about having to get new rims every 3 weeks cause no matter what kind of wheels we get they just start to go out of true at will...and truing a wheel after every ride kinda stinks! haha
and I wanted to see what other people though about how genetics play a role in your cycling abilities. I think that either you are fast or your not regardless of your height, weight, bodyfat, brain size, shoes size...ect. fast riders are just fast no matter what they look like or eat or train.
Just a though...but what the hell do I know? =)
have a great thanks giving all

|did you get pushed around a lot? Still do? I am just as light as you, although taller, I am thinking about a handgun or a nifty knife or a baseball bat for an extra security out in a middle of nowhere. Hmmmmm

|don't you think its about time you try your tactics on riders other than your wife and your 11 year old son?|
