I didn't either - until I read the *headline* - - - Mr. Dog was being funny. Take another looksie.

Also, did you notice that they (i.e. Shimano) touts their DA wheelset and yet in picture #3 he's riding Special K's? kinda takes something away - one might think that the DA wheels may not be the answer to all your problems. BTW the DA carbon tubular wheels list at $1,300 for a pair - gonna run right out and buy me sum.....

1994 Paris-Roubaix mud ride, one of the best "Queen of the Classics" Famous Cycling Videos (now WCP) on VHS tape, the Siberian Andre Tchmile riding for the Belgian Lotto Team won with Shimano 105 gruppo, Ruby front shock. A pik of Tchmile with complete bike (with paint scuffed on top tube where Tchmile's inside knees rub) was in Cycle Sport. Yet Dura-Ace ran the full page spread claiming the "victory ", etc.

Lots of frames re-decal'd to the rider's sponsor, non-sponsored tire labels marked thru with black pen, etc., etc.

The best ad was Cycle Sport (Euro, the one i get mailed from England to Rudy in bulk, then re-mailed to "us" ), Cippo holding the bare babe in the North Wave shoe ad. In the American issue the babe had the bikini on.

Some quotes from Enrico Sanz,
then Banesto bike store (team) overlord:

..."Big Mig actually rode a triple in the Dauphine of 1996, and a test run was planned for the Tour stage to Pamplona. Come July and the Pyrenees though Miguel wasn't really willing to try it out, understandable given the circumstance." .....

...."At Huy in the Tour de France in 1995, he used a 54/44 with a 12-18 block"...

What they don't mention is that those are Shimano's ONLY TdF wins!
