Hello all. I have been experiencing a squeaking sound from the front hub area of my Ksyriums. The hub turns freely without any sound when I am off the bike. When riding, either sprinting or climbing, I hear a squeaking sound from the axle area. I think it's because I didn't grease the skewers. Any suggestions for a good grease for this problem. Also how much grease? Just cake it? Or just light layer like a seatpost? Anyone with experience, any help would be much appreciated... Happy riding!

Any waterproof grease - lightly on the skewer and use a cotton bud twirled into a point to get into the QR mechanism of the Mavic skewer. You can take the skewers apart to grease, but it's hardly worth the hassle. You can also soak in oil - wipe off and use. Be sure the squeak is from the skewer and not incipient fork/frame breakage/dry stem/seatpost/BB/bars etc.

I had a similar problem with an old set of Nashbar wheels I raced on -- the first time I rode them there was a squeak in the front wheel. I eventually traced it to the dust cap, which just barely rubbed the hub body when I had my weight on the bike (just enough axle flex to make contact). I greased the dust cap, and the squeak never returned. Might be as simple as that. I always use Phil Wood grease.

I recommend bullshot. Most LBS have it.

|Bullshot works great.
As for your problem, I think someone else said it too, but I would make sure it isn't something other than your hub.
