Anyone riden one of these new models yet? or the older 200 series? What's the difference between the 381 carbon build and the 361 carbon build? Thinking about purchasing one of these or a Kestrel 300 EMS or 200 SCi.

The difference between the 381 and last years 281 is that the 381 comes with the new "hidden set" integrated headset and an LDS 4 fork & cane creek headset. All other tubes are the same and the 381 the rear dropouts are adjustable and last years you could change out for dropouts that were more forward or rear. The 381 & 281 use a higher grade carbon with custom tube shaping to add to the handling/feel of the bike. I am saving my pennies for the 381 in black or Kelme colors. Excel has the 281 on sale for $1,688. Hope that helps
not quite the same tubesetCT1

The seat tube is 'aero' on the 381 and not on the 281. There may be other differences as well.

I've got an 01 KG281 and love it. The the 381 should be even better with the expected improvement in steerer tube stiffness.

YMMV

The 261/361 has round tubes, while the 281,381,281i have variable shaped tubes. The difference between the 381 and the 381i is the 381i has a integrated headset. If your interested in the 361, it's supposed to retail for about $1000. That's the same price as the sale prices on the 261. Last year LOOK's three carbon/aluminum lugged models were 241,261, and 281. This year they've dropped the 241 and their three are 361,381,381i. They also have the KX which has bigger/stiffer tubes. It's priced around the 381i. I have three LOOK frames(281,241,286),so I'm a little biased.

Here are the 4 different Look models available in the US in 02', the KG361, the KG381i, the KX, and the AL384.

The KG361 uses HR carbon fiber, round main tubes, 1" steel steerer fork, retail is $1,100.

The KG381i uses HM carbon fiber, shaped (but not aero) main tubes, adjustable dropouts, hidden headset, 1 1/8" full carbon fork, retail is $2,200.

HR carbon means high-resistance, HM carbon means high-modulus. HM carbon is slightly lighter, stonger and stiffer than HR.

The shaped tubes of the 381i will make the bike a little stiffer than the 361.

The adjustable droputs allow you to tune the bike's ride, crit bike one day, century bike the next.

I rode a KG281 last year and am currently riding a KG361. The ride is pretty close. The 281 had an ever so slight edge in stiffness, but the smothness of the ride seems about the same.

How did you get a 361 so quick? My next LOOK is going to be the AL384. I want to try the Aluminum frame/carbon stays

I've had it for 6 weeks. All your LBS has to do is call and order one, they have been available for about 8 weeks. The 381i won't be out till January though.
