Don't know if this became a dubble reply but..

To say that Cinelli frames are bad is to me very obvius bull. The cinelli frames are rather known to be excellent frames with very good craftmanship. But it seems to be true that they don't sponsor any team with frames (several with stems and handlebars) wich is a bit odd. Maybe some smaller team use them ore some team use 'em repainted. But however, Cinelli are not bad frames

Your LBS owner is on drugs. If the manufacturer pays enough then a pro team will ride anything (or at least something with the sponsors name on it).
Own a 2000 Unica and pretty happy with it. First alu bike after riding cro-moly for several years. Previous alu experience was on older GTs (very stiff) so Unica feels relatively comfortable. Still quite stiff, however that may owe more to the geometry and design (compact sloping) than the material. At the end of the day it's probably no better than other alu frames at the same (and probably cheaper) price. Has a few nice touches (the funky bridge from the seatstays to the seat tube)on close inspection, but probably nothing you'd notice on the ride. However, at least you don't look like some pro wannabe - don't know of any teams that ride Cinelli frames. Kind of a novel idea that a manufacturer would try to sell frames on the strength of the quality of the product, rather than what's under some superman who manages to pedal at excessive speeds (Trek, Pinarello and Colnago fans you know who you are).

PS: before you start, I own a Trek as well, just have no illusions or THAT paint job.

If you haven't seen it, there is a picture of the 2002 Unica in the Interbike phots. It has carbon seatstays now, and it is beautiful. If only I could afford one...
