Anyone use this stuff? It appears to be a good deal. On sale for $10 per 26 serving jug. They claim you can mix it with water like a sports drink or eat it straight from the provided flask. Does it work? Is the flask a hassle to deal with (and how much does it hold)? Any flavors that are good (or nasty)? Do you use it as a drink, or a gel?
I'm considering ordering 3-4 jugs of this stuff while its on sale. I prefer gels to bars except for the cost. It was a sad day when Clif quit selling their gels in those resealable toothpaste tubes that held 200 calories worth of gel rather than 100 calories that everyone else gives you for $1.
I also like the idea of less packaging and litter.

@ $10 a jug it's a steal. I plan on stocking up. The flask is great for being able to eat and keep pedaling on. No GU like wrappers to worry about. I highly recomend apple cinnamon. Tastes like pie.

Great stuff , on sale at a great price. The vanilla and apple cin. are good. The berry is a bit sweet for me. the flask fits nicely in a jersey and is easy to use. Mixing with water tastes awful to me, so I use full strength and drink water after.

I use it all the time. The flask is very handy and it is very stomach friendly.

Worth it. I mix it with Endurox for rides. My personal favorite is Vanilla, but your results may vary.

I just bought my 2nd and 3rd bottles. The apple cinnamon tastes great! I also bought the raspberry, which tastes almost as good. The steady blood sugar levels that it's complex carb formula provides make other jells and bars obsolete. No more sugar spikes and bonks. I wonder how much longer it will take before the other mfg's copy it.

I use it with Accelerade; this seems to be the best combo for me. 1 bottle of Accelerade and 1 bottle of hammer gel mixed in h20. I like the apple-cinnemon, raspberry, orange, and expresso (has caffeine in it-raises a few eyebrows when people see it-"what in God's name are you drinking?!")I'm going to stock up on it, too. 1 word though; it doesn't have much in the form of electrolytes, so you may want to get their endurolytes, which work quite well-ask Dog. I've never experienced cramping or bonking while using these in combo.

|I like Vanilla, Plain, or unflavored the best. Believe it or not, Plain and unflavored are not the same.
If you don't use all of a flask, put it in the fridge when you get home, and just add to it for next time. If you leave them at room temp with gel still in them, they can mold.
I went through 3 jugs at the 508 and it was still not nearly enough. That's a lot of cals.
It never upsets my stomach, unlike lots of other things. Works great mixed with water, too.
No litter, and reuseable or recycleable packaging.
BTW, make sure you get the flasks completely closed before you put them back in your jersey pocket, or they make a really big mess. Been there.

Just bought 4 jugs and a bottle of the electrolight capsules. Now all I need is a nice 80 degree day to get out and ride 100 miles.

...I borrowed a friend's heavy duty overnight bag for the California Aids Ride this summer. Didn't tighten down the cap on the Hammer Gel...what a mess. The stuff seems to find any opening and leak....

|I just ordered two jugs (The Apple Cinnamon and the Chocolate) of the stuff to try it out. I thought I read (here, on the board) a while ago that the Hammer products were kind of expensive; maybe this is just a promotional offer. You've sparked some serious interest, including mine, and I can't wait to try the stuff out--the price is SO RIGHT!
Cheers, and happy, strong rides.
