Another undershirt question: DeFeet or Craft? Any users?(8 posts)

Another undershirt question: DeFeet or Craft? Any users?nigel

I had questioned the whole polypropylene thing a little while back, and know that polypro undershirts (most versions, anyway) really do a great job of holding (and seemingly even CREATING) body odor. Argh!

Anyone out there use either the DeFeet Un-D-Shurt or Craft Pro Undershirt? Also, what are these garments made of? Do they hold odors well (in a bad way), or do they stay relatively "clean"? I couldn't find the materials on their sites; are they secrets? I thought the Craft ones were a fine blend of wool, but can't find this info anywhere.

Any recommendations and/or info?

Cheers, and stay warm (and unfunky),
Nige

I've been using the Un-Dee-Shirt for close to two years and like it a lot. It's made of some type of acrylic material. It actually remains surprisingly odor-free, considering that I wear it through summer in even the hottest temperatures. Although it helps keep me warm in winter, I'm in southern California, so I'm not facing the same temps you'll be seeing in NY this winter. I've never tried any Craft garments but have heard good things about them.

I have an UN-D-Shirt and I like it a lot. I think it is made of something very much like "coolmax", it might even be "coolmax". They keep you cool in the summmer and warm in the winter, and they don't seem to retain an abnormal amount of odor, it washes right out anyway. I'm planning on buying one of those "coolmax" sleeveless shirts that I've seen at sierratradingpost.com to make a comparison. They are only about $9 or $10 as compared to the $20 for the DeFeet.

I've been using the DeFeet's for three years here in So. Florida where it is very humid during the summer and surprisingly cool early in the morning during the winter. They work very well at moving sweat away from my torso, thus helping to cool me when it is hot and drier is warmer when it is cold. I'm not sure what the actual materiel is but it does not have that chemically feel to it, it feels nice and soft next to your skin. It does not hold odors at all and gets softer after it has been washed a lot. I recommend it highly. It's well worth the 20 bucks. Being a Campy freak, I am going to buy one of those 40 dollar undershirts and I do not expect it to be any better, it will be great if it is as good. But it does say Campy on it...

I am using the DeFeet and have been for almost 2 years. I ordered the Craft and returned it after trying it on. Just by the fit of the Craft I will never order any of their products. Very strange fit. The DeFeet is the best of its type, no smell, very comfortable, just get one.
Sorry, don't wear those, but.....cioccman

Hey Nigel, you missed a good spirited ride this past Saturday. Should be another one this Saturday as the temp is supposed to go back to the 60s. Let me know if you want to join us. We met at the school on Saturday at 8:30. Oh, by the way just kidding about the smell:-)
