I am looking into getting a trainer and am thinking about the Elite Volare trainer. Does anyone have any comments about this trainer and how it compares to the CycleOps Fluid 2 trainer? Thanks in advance.

I've owned an Elite fluid for the past year. It's quiet, the construction is good, and I haven't had any problems with it. I would reccomend it based on my experience with it. It has been one of those products that does it's job and I haven't had to think about and that's a good thing. I haven't owned a Fluid 2, but I have owned another Cycleops trainer before. The quality seems similar to myself between the two brands, although it is hardly a direct comparison. Probably can't go wrong with either, IMO.
Have you looked at Performance?DCW

I understand that Performance fluid trainers are made by (and the same as?) Elite. Several months ago I got the adjustable resistance top one for well under $200 and added the computer for $50 or so more. It works quite well so far.

The Performance unit carries a Made in Italy sticker and looks identical to the Elite unit. If it's not a rebranded unit, then Performance should also have copied the paint job if they were going to copy someone else's product. I've had mine for 2 years now. It has the variable resistance unit. Plenty of resistance, stable stand, quiet operation, it's a quality product.
The one to get is the Kinetic...Shylock

....super stable, super quiet. They are basically well made Cycleops. The road machine comes with a 6 pound fly-wheel. This is the only trainer the monster racer at my LBS hasn't destroyed.
