|Anyone catch the Nike commercial on TV? There are two versions one long, and one short. It shows a bunch of guys hammering in the woods on single tracks riding road bikes wearing USPS uniforms. All of them eventually crash, accept one who makes it onto a dirt road, and it's no other than L.A.
Another commercial I saw was for Panasonic Electric Razors.
It shows european guys riding in the peloton shaving and admiring how smooth their skin is. At the end a guy is standing on the podium and gets slapped on the face when he kisses the trophy girl too aggressively.
I think when we start seeing stuff like this in TV commercials it means that cycling is catching on in the good old USA.

|You do see a lot more cycling in the US culture, in general, now that the general sees that Lance has won 3 tours, and are catching onto just how big a deal that is.
In the Panasonic commercial though, I don't think that those were real pro riders, but I could be wrong. Anyhow, the fact that is was cycling is the point...

|Yeah, your're right, they were actors. I was half asleep in my recliner when I viewed the ad and thought I might have dreamed the whole thing...|

|I only saw it once, but the shorts and jersey's had sponsors that I didn't recognize. Maybe they were pro category 2 teams or just fictional ones. I need to see it again. It doesn't really matter, but it's fun to see if we can recognize a real rider or a team.|

|I saw the Nike ad on TV this evening. It was great! Made me want to figure out a way to ride my road and mtn. bikes at the same time.
Hmmmm... maybe now I need a 'cross bike? Oh boy...

|I kept waiting for the cyclists to use the razor to shave their legs. Thought that was gonna be the funny twist. . .|

|The leg shaving HAD to be the punch line...||nigel|

|Why else would they choose CYCLISTS for the ad? I wondered. Sure enough, though, they only used the razors on their faces. I felt ROBBED!!!! Any other sport could've done just as well--if not better--for face-shaving, and may even "reached" more of the American public, for that matter. I guess the ad person behind the commercial was a cyclist.... :) The "turkey legs" comment from one of the foreign riders was good, though.
I caught the "enjoy the weather" one (Nike) and couldn't keep from laughing. The "punchline," though, seemed a bit dull, considering that they weren't riding in different riding conditions, weatherwise. If Nike was advertising weatherproof sporting togs, I felt, it would've made more sense. Oh well...funny ad, though, with lots of air time for Lance.

|Saw the shaving one last night. One of the lines is "Feels like goo!" My first reaction was ewww! Gu gets all sticky and messy and gets everywhere and never seems to come off. Why would you want that in a razor?
Then I realized they meant "GOO." Ah, different thing.

|Saw them both back to back on OLN. I didn't realize the followers were Posties, too, and I thought they were on mountain bikes? I didn't really get the point of it, either (sort of like the Nike "enjoy the weather" commercial). I liked it, though.
The electric razor commerical was cool, too.
Lance has changed things. Even people who formerly had no clue what the Tour de France was about now recognize riders' names and know something about them. OLN played a huge role, too.

|I almost missed it. I passed it while channel surfing and fumbled the remote trying to get it back. I only caught the end. Can it be downloaded I wonder? If you know where, please post the link. I had no luck finding it online this morning.|

|Adcritic has a huge archive of ads. you need quicktime to watch them. The new nike add is not on there yet but it should be soon. this is an older add that is about people acusing Lance of doping.

|I thought it was hilarious. I laughed. But she had seen it earlier, and it made her cry.
That's what happens when you don't remember the crash, the ambulance ride or the two hours in the trauma room.
