he has obviously been eating to many pies, and sausages and drinking way too much beer.

and for that reason i like him. gone is cippo as my favorite maverick. any cyclist that can come second in succesive years in the worlds biggest race with a "belly" deserves my respect.

while im here id like to also point out that its nice to see stuart ogrady in the australian colors (colours).

Jan probably hit this year's tour in his best physical form ever!

I suggest that the camera caught Jan midbreath... there have been photos in the past where he really was doing his impersonation of the Pillsbury Dough Boy...

Look at them gams!!! And he's still a GREAT cyclist! GO JAN!

Yeah, his extra weight was REALLLLY obvious in the Giro.... a bit less in the Tour (still heavy by 5? lbs).... but he looked fairly trimmed down for the worlds. Don't know if this extra weight "cost" him the tour but it surely added some minutes.

It is pretty amazing how powerful he is!!! Best "overall" rider in the world right now.

Jan usually gains alot of weight in the off-season, I think the most was before the 98 tour when he gained around 12kilo or 26 pounds. Also, his normal riding weight is between 160-165 and he is just over 6 feet tall.

That's the only thing I have in common with any pro, actually
made me feel pretty good until I looked down and realized that
mine was more of a gut than a belly.
