I've been toying with building up a bike to use on the trainer while the trusted steed get's some new paint. I've been thinking about a Retro bike, actually I know that's what I'm going to do. An old steel Colnago with the chrome lugs and the sraight chrome fork. The point of all this is because I'm a card carrying Campyholic I've been getting into the old Campy stuff. Is this C-Record stuff beautifull or what.

The beauty of C RecordSprockets
Nov 8, 2001 5:59 PM
I would be hesitant to use a fine bike such as that on a trainer.

C Record is beautiful. The early derailleur is especially nice. The Cobalto brakes are also worthy of note.
My mechanic, a former Dutch track champion, tells me it is Campys most reliable and durable groupset.

Even with the recent world events and economic slowdown, nice pieces continue to comand good prices on eBay (in many cases more than the 2001 Record 10!).

thank you for sharing. Makes me really appreciate my 2000 Record Groupo even more, just knowing how timeless it all is.

Oh wait...I haven't the ducats.

Sorry, got a little overzealous for a student sized wallet...*snif*

That is a simply gorgeous bike. How can you part with it?!?

What may I ask is taking her place? Newer? Younger? Silicon impla...ahem...I mean carbon chassis?

Such a shame. Too bad I can't just woo her from you with my charm! ( ;

...before you sell that bike. Some things are too precious regardless of circumstance, and while a bike may not be truly essential for survival, well...sometimes you just have to hold on.

Eat Ramen.
Sell plasma.
Live at the shelter.
Anything.

If I had the money I would gladly take it off your hands. Imagining that ride through NYC....nice! I'd carry the largest heaviest lock I could lift into my T2.

Hope you find work!

Yup, your bike is what has inspired me. Unfortunately the wife would kill me if I bought another bike, so I must pass on yours. But I think a piece here a frame there, I may be able to sneak past her.;))))
wish you luck but.......dupe

us men can rarely sneak anything past a woman/wife.

if you need help i can send pictures of me before and after selling my bike. kinda shock tactics.

im glad my ride is of inspiration. i am without vanity when i say that the combo of a colnago master w/ c-record makes everyone on a ride both envious and full of admiration.

i have seen a rare cinelli and a clonago arabesque that have surmounted its elegance and purity.

i have a soft spot for old vitus' as well tho.

good luck. the wife will understand ... she loves you.
