mechanic help!!fly-bye

Hi guys! I cannot get my stem to tighten properly no matter how hard I crank the stem bolts. I have a E-90 carbon fork(with carbon steerer) Cinelli integralter and King headset. the stem just slips on the steerer tube. Can anyone help me?
not too sure on this.......dupe

but someone on an earlier post (in the components section) mention that alter stems (essentially the same as you and i have on our integralters) have a habit of stripping bolts that clamp the stem to the fork end.

you may look at replacing these with better specc'd items. it may be a start. mine holds up ok but ive only ever installed it and haven't touched it scince.

also check that you have the right model. i think that they may have come in 1" and 1 1/8" inch models. if so you could use a shim but i personally wouldn't be brave enough to ride with this setup.

hope this helps.

Are you trying to use a 11/8" stem on a 1" steerer with out the shim?

I am using the shim that came with the stem. but thats how it acts. Although in the open position, I don't think you could fit a bigger shim. It just slides on the steerer tube once it is tight. ???????
