|What year was the Schwinn LeTour III? Yellow/orange frame||128|

|Successfully dismantled, cleaned, and reassembled LeTour III derailleur last night. Schwinn Approved! On the back is stamped: Shimano Industrial Co., Ltd. Obviously an ancient thing but is good for practice (have '86 600 group on my current ride -which are of course off limits for tinkering for now- and it's interesting to see the mechanical engineering evolution). The thing is as solid as the day it was made. Just curious when in the Shimano history this little work horse occured.
(Now I'm looking for an old Campy to rebuild. See the difference.)

|have been made since the mid to late 70's. The really crappy ones of course didn't have the Shimano brand on them. I'm assuming this is some pile of scrap similar to the Shimano Eagle components of the late 70's-early 80's. Other than too much metal, there wasn't much to them. Come to think of it, there wasn't much to a Schwinn Le Tour, other than too much metal, too.
If you are interested in antideluvian garbage, I have a couple old Simplex and Huret derailleurs laying around...........

|Late 70s? Not sure, but my sister had one. Heavy as sin, but bombproof. My father still rides it once in a while. Never been repaired other than to change tires once in a while.|

|derailluers to wrench around.
Sounds like late seventies.
Oh, I of course kept the alloy kickstand for my Allez. Use it during water breaks....
It's so depressing watching the sun go down from my window here at work during daylight-no more after work rides-savings. I feel like a surfer when the surfs up during work hours....

|Some of my friends had LeTours. Brings back memories of my Gitane; I had one @ the same time as they had their LeTours. You're getting me all sentimental and teary-eyed. God, I miss that bike!(Halter tops weren't a bad thing, either! :-) )|| |
