|I was thinking, how would one design a track event for climbers? Would you need to redesign the track? How would it look like? Could it be done?
Com'on Creative Artchitects!!! give me your ideas!!! I am tired of 6' 200 pound guys always taking the track medals!!! it is time for us the little colombians to have a chance!!! :-)

|Seriously, no way could you have a track built for a climbing event.
To get the advantage, climbers need a long, steep climb, otherwise those 6' 200lb guys will still win.

|Easy - use a figure 8 instead of an oval. The crossover can be as high as you like.|

|for sprinters? It is a shame that they can only compete for the green jersey and never have a chance a yellow. How can a 180+ lbs rider compete against the little Heras/Pantani type climbers over numerous mountain stages.
If you want to climb, stay on the road or start on the inner lane and climb up to the rail. That is the only climb that belongs in track racing. There are literally hundreds of races that are good for climbers and only around a dozen velodromes in the US. Big guys need somewhere to race. If you want to track race, find an event that suits you and develop the skills.

|How about a race up a spiral parking garage?
Things are the way they are for reasons, usually very practical. Short track events will always be one by the sprinters (by definition, I guess), like Nothstein. Hill climbs will be won largely by the Pantani types. It's the way of the universe.
How about basketball for short white guys who can't jump?
