CAAD4 Cannondale Sizing??? Please help!!!!!Zableisthebest

I am 5,10 with a 32.5 inseam. I am looking for a used road bike and I saw a 53cm Cannondale R2000 CAAD 4 for sale. I looked at the geometry chart and was looking for some opinions on sizing from Cannondale owners.

Well Cannondale doesn't make a CAAD 4 53 cm frame. Either 54 or 52. I am 5'9" with a 30.9" inseam. I ride a 54 cm and feel just fine. Cannondale geometry is slightly more aggressive than other manufacturers. Cannondale uses a fairly long top tube resulting in an aggressive riding position. I love my C'dale, but if you are interested in riding comfort, and still want a Cannondale I may suggest buying a slightly smaller. This will reduce the length of the top tube and yield a more erect riding position. You can then manipulate the cranks, seat post, and stem to achieve optimum sizing. Hope this helps. Spring a little more for the CAAD 5. The integrated headset is so so so silky smooth! Also the 1 1/8" steerer tube is a huge plus with the CAAD 5. Aftermarket forks will be stiffer and you don't have to use those pain in the you know what shims for the more expensive stems.

I'm a similar size and used to ride their 54 before I knew better. The 52 fit MUCH better.

This whole sizing thing is really absurd. Go to the darn Cannondale website, it's all right there. If you've got an accurately measured inseam of 29.6, a 52 is too %#$%ing big. On the website, the standover height is right there at 30 inches. If you want your top tube almost a half inch up your @SS, get a 52.

Actually the caad 4 was available in odd sizes as a frameset only.I have a 57cm. Cdale measures c-to of toptube. Some of their diageams indicate C-C(not).

I am 5'-10" also with a 32.5" inseam. Just bought an R800 5 weeks ago.

I test rode a 54" and a 56"

Given the same saddle height the 54 gave a lower stem height, so the 53" will be relatively lower. So how flexible are you and what do you want to do? Time trial requires a low stem, road racing a bit higher, fitness riding and posing - that's me, a bit higher still. I chose the 56" which is superb. Give it a try, don,t forget that if it has the Cannondale stem it can be reversed to give a more upright ride.

I have a CAAD6, however the sizing would be the same. I am 5'10" with a 31 " inseam. I ride a 54cm.
It's "Zabel," by the way. You shouldn't be settling...nigel

...for anything less than a Pinarello, just like your hero. That is, if you're referring to Sprint Maestro Eric. Other than that, I'm not sure who "Zable" is.

I don't know much about C'dales, though, except that a 53cm (I believe) is more like a 54-55cm on some other bikes, for some reason (Due to the diameter of their tubes, possibly). Sorry I can't be of more help.

Good luck with bike hunting,
Nigel
